Our family loves music, in fact, we love music so much that part of why we moved to Nashville was because of the wonderful live music. It’s pretty spectacular during the summer time they have so many free concerts in the part and it’s fun to see up and coming folk, country, blues and rock singers starting out. Our record player was the central place in our old apartment. We wanted it to be a space that was colorful, playful and unique.
It’s so hard to find unique and colorful displays of record players, not too many of them that I have found are colorful and fun, they are typically black and white with very little color. The make our record player set up pop with color I mixed curated art from several artists along with art I made myself. I got 9 records from the thrift shop that were scratched and not functional anymore, painted the edges and held them together with floral wire on the backs to make an abstract record art center piece.
I love Dinos too, so we found some amazing dinosaur recycled planters on Etsy from a shop called Plaid Pigeon They added such a funky and colorful vibe to the space. They offer so many different vibrant colored Dino planters and they come with the plants! They are all easy to care for succulent plants.
This is an upcycled piece of furniture my hubby and I build together, made from scraps of furniture we had around the apartment. It took two months to finish, but turned out so fun. At our new home we no longer use it for holding the record player because the space we put it in didn’t look as good, but it now holds my craft supplies in my craft room.
The other artwork that I had up was from Hatch Show Print which is a famous letter press printing company that is still making handmade posters to this day! They have been around for a long long time, printing concert posters for music greats like Johnny Cash even. If you’re ever in the Nashville TN area visiting you can go to their shop near the country music hall of fame and take a tour of their print shop and buy some posters of your own. I have three of their posters hanging on our wall here.
I also did a DIY tutorial on how to make the fun striped pom pom vinyl record holder we have sitting next to our record player holding the ones we listen to most if you want to make one of your own go check it out.
The other art I have here that I made are recycled paper book bead art as well as several quote and word art that I decoupaged and custom painted for the wall.
It was a cozy and colorful nook of our apartment that we loved being in, and also rocking our new born to sleep in, it’s no wonder she now loves listen to music and gets fussy when there is no music playing in the car.
Hopefully you got some inspiration from this colorful funky music gallery wall.
