My husband and I recently went to Palm Springs a few months ago, and had such a great time we decided to go again for weekend trip on my 32nd birthday. It’s a wonderful place to visit, especially before the dead heat of the summer kicks in, we visited end of April right before the super high temperatures started. We ended up staying at the Saguaro hotel, and did some fun things around town. Below is all the details of places we visited and below are the photos…

This is the lovely Saguaro hotel we stayed at, I highly recommend it. We actually stayed elsewhere last time we visited, and I happened to drive by it and fell in love with the colors and fun vibe, and told my husband we had to stay here next time! The pool area is so relaxing, I spent hours laying in the colorful hammock reading a book and we also sipped lots of drinks poolside. I even tried my very first Pina Colada, which is big, I am a hard core strictly beer only person, so that was a big step for me, it was delish and not too strong either.
The pool area had beautiful flowers and is very well kept, you can easily spend the entire vacation at the resort, they have a bar pool side, and inside bar, free yoga each morning, hammocks, games, bikes you can rent, restaurant and spa.
We found this fun and colorful mural while driving around one morning, that’s one of the many cool things about Palm Springs, they have tons of beautiful and fun colorful murals throughout the downtown area.
We are big açaí bowl fans, so we discovered Fruit Wonders, OMG they have a matcha green tea bowl, it is to die for! They have a green tea fruit mixture, below it they place oat meal and on top there is yummy fresh fruit.
I found some great websites online for mid century modern home tours, one of which I posted at the top, you can also go to Zillow and look for mid century modern homes for sale this one was one of the 5 I found. The cool part is, once you get to the neighborhoods that have these types of homes you can often times drive around and find more, it was soooo much fun! We drove around with out dogs in the car searching for neat homes for the afternoon.
Aside from how beautiful the buildings are, the gardens are also amazing, they are so fun and colorful!
Indio, California produces 95% of the entire worlds dates….. crazy right?! So you must stop for a few date shakes while you are in town. On the outskirts of Palm Springs is Hadley’s fruit stand, they make wonderful date shakes among others. Theirs are good, they have small pieces of the date in the shake. We discovered Shields Date Stand, they have a totally different style where they use date sugar for their shakes, it’s made out of the dried and ground dates and is soooo smooth, there are no pieces of the fruit in the shakes. I recommend you try both places, they also have some places on the mail drag in Palm Springs that offer date shakes.
Shield’s also has a super interesting video on how dates are grown, very interesting and a fun way to enjoy a date shake and learn about the fruit too!
Shield’s also has a beautiful biblical garden you can go through if you spend $25 or more at the store or restaurant they have there. It was beautiful to walk among all the dates, and we even got to take a selfie with Jesus, pretty sweet!
If you are at all into the fun and colorful style of mid century modern home decor and furniture, I highly recommend you visit H3K Designs, it is toward the end of the down town Palm Springs area, this store has the cutest stuff, I bought the colorful wow pillow in the photo below.
We took our dogs to the Moorten botanical garden, it was a very unique cactus garden, it was actually extremely shady and peaceful, lots of unique and rare plants to look at and the amazing cactarium as well, it only costs $5 and you can bring dogs in with you!
The Cactatium was the highlight of the garden, so cool!
The garden even had some fun tortoises as well.
For my birthday dinner we took a 30 minute drive over to the Schnitzelhaus for some tasty authentic German food, we shared a big pretzel, some beer and yummy schnitzel! It’s very much worth the drive, you do wait a while, but it is because they make everything from scratch and it’s the real deal, very nice staff and very great food!
